Duquesne Light Company supervisor receives ‘Women of Excellence’ award

Sheila Glover, supervisor of meter shops and testing at& Duquesne Light Company& (DLC), was honored as one of the& New Pittsburgh Courier’s& 2023 Women of Excellence at a ceremony on Friday, Dec. 8. The Courier is the third-largest newspaper in Pittsburgh that publishes weekly while focusing on events affecting the lives of Pittsburgh’s African American community. “The New Pittsburgh Courier’s Women of Excellence awards recognize local African American women who inspire others through their vision of leadership, exceptional achievements and participation in community service,” said Rod Doss, editor and publisher at the Courier. “They are women who exemplify extraordinary stature, poise and integrity. These women influence those around them to go beyond the norm and strive for greatness.” This year’s class included 50 honorees. Glover, who has been a DLC employee for more than 40 years, leads a team focused on ensuring that utility meters work properly and are deployed safely and efficiently for the company’s 600,000 customers. Prior to this role, she worked at one of DLC’s former generation facilities in various capacities.
