Eleven Fallen Tennessee Firefighters Among Those Being Honored May 4-5

EMMITSBURG, Md.& – The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF) will host the& 43rd& National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend& (Memorial Weekend) on May 4-5, 2024 in Emmitsburg, Maryland. This year’s national tribute will honor 89 firefighters who died in the line of duty in 2023 and 137 firefighters who died in previous years.& The honorees will include the following Tennessee firefighters:
Firefighter Jeffrey Arick, age 45, of the Memphis Fire Department, suffered a heart attack and died at home on 8/8/20, several hours after responding to and working at an MVA to coordinate an extended patient extrication from the vehicle.
Engineer Malcolm Arrington, age 54, of the Nashville Fire Department died on 9/1/2021 due to complications of COVID-19.
Captain William “Mike” Brooks, age 59, of the Nashville Fire Department, died on 2/1/2022 due to complications of COVID-19.
Lieutenant Roger Estes, age 77, of the South Claiborne Volunteer Fire Department, & was directing traffic at a fire department fundraiser on 7/4/22, when he was struck by a passing truck. He was immediately treated and transported to the hospital where he died due to the injuries sustained in the accident. The PSOB Claim was approved in November 2023.
