Elisha Norbert, the United Workers Party nominee for Micoud North, has called on Saint Lucian artists to maintain their authenticity during politically charged times. “Do not compromise your identity,” Norbert stated before a gathering of supporters this Sunday. “Stay impartial, as the true essence of our culture remains with our artists. We need your genuine brilliance.” Positioning his campaign as a transformative initiative, he declared, “This is a movement… a new beginning.” Norbert encouraged residents to engage actively and take pride in their community, emphasizing the importance of overcoming fear, apathy, and corruption. Describing his public service journey as fuelled by love and a commitment to rectify injustices, he outlined his vision for Micoud North based on three core tenets: land, people, and light, resonating with the national motto. He committed to advocating for enhanced land access, ownership titles, and improved infrastructure for farmers and fishers, while also promising scholarships for over half the children born in Micoud North by age 16, fostering independence and empowerment within the community.
