Elm street closure begins for renovation

Contributed CINCINNATI – Elm Street between Fifth and Sixth streets will close effective Monday, July 1. The closure is needed to make room for the renovation of the Duke Energy Convention Center, which will transform this stretch of Elm and an adjacent vacant parcel into a plaza and park. As a result of the closure, motorists on Elm will be redirected north at Vine Street via Fifth. Signage is posted on site to help guide motorists. Pedestrian access will continue to be allowed on Elm via a sidewalk on the east side of the site while construction is underway. In addition, the sidewalk and curb lanes to the immediate north and south of the convention center building will be closed temporarily at different times, depending on the type of work taking place. The curb lane on Fifth will be closed July 1 through Sept. 30, 2024. Through traffic will continue to be allowed on Fifth along three lanes. The adjacent sidewalk will be closed July 1 through Dec. 31, 2024. The curb lane and sidewalk on Sixth will be closed between Elm and Plum streets beginning Sept. 1 through Nov. 30, 2024.
