The list of accolades that Emile YX? has received continues to grow, now being the recipient of a National Order. Emile Jansen’s career in hip hop dates back to 1982, when he started breakdancing for the Pop Glide Crew. His dedication to breakdancing since then, a fundamental element of hip-hop culture, has not only shaped his own journey but also paved the way for others. And thus has also earned him the title as the “Pioneer of South African Hip Hop”. Emile YX? From humble beginnings in Grassy Park, to the world stage, Jansen continued to achieve success since his Black Noise Crew placed third at the Battle Of The Year contest in Germany in 1997.
