Russell Steiger II, OBSERVER The Table, an empowerment center for survivors of human trafficking and those at risk of exploitation, opened downtown Jan. 31. The center at 1211 H St. provides services for survivors and at-risk youth, from basic needs such as clothing, hygiene products, a food pantry, kitchen, laundry and shower facilities, to mental health support, including individual and group therapy. The Table also offers career workshops and one-on-one job placement assistance, as well as a technology center with access to computers, printers, and copiers. In addition, a safe space has been created within the center to enable individuals to rest, relax, and practice self-care. Child care also is available at certain times of the day.
