Enforcing The Black Dollar: Join Chicago’s Chatham Bucks Event on April 19

On Saturday, April 19, the South Side community will actively participate in a national initiative to harness Black spending power—estimated at nearly $2 trillion. The Chatham Business Association, alongside Alderman Will Hall and local churches, presents the "Spend in the Black – Resurrecting the Black Dollar" event, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 75th and King Drive. Central to this initiative is the Chatham Bucks Program, distributing gift certificates exclusively for Black-owned businesses like Fat Burger and The Wrap Bar. This grassroots effort symbolizes a reclaiming of economic autonomy, fostering local wealth circulation.
