For a crisp Tuesday morning, Gainbridge Fieldhouse in downtown Indianapolis was nearly bursting as more than 17,000 fans gathered to watch the Indiana Fever defend home court against the Washington Mystics on July 10. Summer camps and educational institutions bussed their students and campers to the arena to take in all the atmosphere at this year’s Fever Kids Day. Fever rookie Caitlin Clark led the charge with 29 points, 13 assists and five rebounds while notching five three-pointers. Clark became the first player, NBA or WNBA, to record such a stat line since the 1973-74 season. Following the contest, Clark spoke about the team’s late-game rally against Washington. “Our fourth quarter was great, but you can’t play one quarter of basketball and expect to win in this league.
