Nelms as the new Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, following a thorough national recruitment process conducted by the Isaacson, Miller firm. Dr. Nelms, previously the Dean of the School of Natural Sciences, Mathematics, and Business, enters this role equipped with a distinguished record in academic leadership and service. He has played a vital role in coordinating the undergraduate biochemistry and molecular biology program and has overseen graduate biology studies, providing guidance to students and managing research labs. At Fisk, he has launched innovative courses, new degree offerings, and impactful research initiatives. “His commitment to Fisk's mission is steadfast,” stated President Dr. Agenia W. Clark. Dr. Nelms also shines as a Principal Investigator, having secured grants from the National Science Foundation and the National Institutes of Health, while mentoring students through the esteemed Fisk-Vanderbilt Masters-to-PhD Bridge Program.
