Five African Americans Appointed to University Administrative Positions

Katrece Boyd has been named executive director of the Center for Entrepreneurship and Economic Development at historically Black North Carolina Central University. She previously served as a general business counselor with the Small Business and Technology Development Center. Boyd received her bachelor’s degree in sales and marketing from historically Black Tuskegee University in Alabama. She is currently pursing an MBA from Duke University. Anthony Jones has been named vice president of enrollment management at Loyola University New Orleans. Since 2021, he has served as vice president of enrollment management and student experience at historically Black Bethune-Cookman University in Daytona Beach, Florida. Jones completed his undergraduate education at historically Black Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee. He holds a master’s degree in higher education administration from Vanderbilt University. Gerald Shields has been appointed interim vice president for finance administration at Southeastern Missouri State University. Throughout his career, he has held numerous chief financial officer and vice president roles at historically Black colleges and universities. Recently, he completed a term as interim chief financial officer for Kentucky State University.
