Barstool Sports president Dave Portnoy appears to be solidifying his position as a formidable figure in sports podcasting, particularly after deciding to sever ties with former NBA player Patrick Beverley. This decision followed allegations stemming from a police report in connection with Beverley's recent arrest for assaulting his sister. Portnoy has announced that Beverley will be placed on hiatus from their joint podcast until he resolves his personal, legal, and family matters.Portnoy expressed sympathy for Beverley while highlighting the seriousness of the accusations, including choking and making threats against his sister. He stated, “We'll see how this unfolds; the details are troubling.” Beverley’s attorney, however, contends the report is misleading and insists his client is not violent. Despite the turbulence, Beverley, whose podcast recently garnered 290,000 subscribers, may still forge ahead independently, as Portnoy's actions do not impede his future in podcasting.
