Footage Shows CPD Officers Firing Nearly 100 Shots in Fatal Traffic Stop

Four Chicago police officers fired nearly 100 shots in less than a minute at 26-year-old Dexter Reed, who appeared to have fired first, injuring one of them, during a fatal traffic stop last month.Moreover, bodycam footage shows an officer firing additional shots at Reed after he was slumped on the ground at the rear of his vehicle.The purported reason for the stop was that he was not wearing a seatbelt.“My heart breaks for the family of Dexter Reed. They are grieving the loss of a son, a brother and a nephew. I spoke to Dexter’s family this weekend and offered them my deepest condolences. I know there is also a community of friends, teammates, coaches, and neighbors who are mourning his loss as well,” said Mayor Brandon Johnson in a statement.The Mayor announced that the officers involved have been on a 30-day administrative leave.
