Garde Touts ‘Morale Boost’ In RSLPF

Acting Police Commissioner Verne Garde has pointed to a ‘morale boost’ in the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) after a low among its rank and file.
Garde, whose six-month acting appointment began in September this year, told St. Lucia Times that he paid specific attention to the issue over the past month and a half.
He disclosed that he had visited many police stations, departments, and units to reinforce the senior officers’ commitment to supporting their juniors.
“Throughout that period, we have taken the time to meet officers on a one-on-one basis every Wednesday. So persons who have major issues of low morale would volunteer for those specific meetings,” the Acting Police Commissioner stated.
Garde said he knew that some senior officers also meet regularly with their staff to improve morale.
He explained that unavailable resources contributed to low morale.
However, Garde told St. Lucia Times that the RSLPF was providing the needed resources for officers to do their duties.
“So right now we are seeing this whole jolt of a morale boost in the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force,” he declared.
