Shocking Incident at NY Restaurant: 87-Year-Old Grandmother Among Seven Elderly Women Given Derogatory Receipts; Owners Blame Single Employee in Apology

In a troubling incident, seven senior women dining together at a bar in upstate New York encountered disrespectful labeling on their receipts, which referred to them as “old b—ches.” Kiera DiNuzzo, an 87-year-old grandmother, recounted the experience to the Times Union after sharing a meal at Deacon Blues Restaurant in Watervliet. Though DiNuzzo had previously enjoyed visits to the establishment without incident, this occasion raised concerns. Her group had initially reserved for ten, but three members were unable to attend, prompting apologies to the staff. Following their meal, each woman requested individual checks. It was only after returning to their senior living community that one woman discovered the derogatory label on her bill, which was present on each receipt. A representative from Deacon Blues stated that the owners, currently on vacation, were distressed by the incident and vowed to address the situation upon their return. They encouraged the women to discuss their experience directly with them for a more meaningful resolution. Following the incident, the restaurant's Facebook page has restricted comments.
