A Black woman from South Carolina has initiated a federal civil lawsuit against Circle K after a clerk in a Bowling Green, Ohio store allegedly assaulted her, resulting in her miscarriage.Deria Francis, a 40-year-old minister, was eight weeks pregnant when she, along with her two children aged 8 and 13, visited Circle K on May 23 while her husband, Dathan Stukes, was refueling their vehicle. They were en route to a church conference in Detroit. After paying for gas, Francis requested clerk Shannon Walsh to void the transaction for her Circle K customer rewards program but was denied. An altercation ensued, during which Walsh reportedly insulted Francis racially and physically assaulted her, resulting in injuries.Walsh was subsequently charged with assault, pleaded no contest to negligent assault, and was ordered to undergo anger management.
