Grant High On Lockdown After Student Shot By Another Student, Police Say

By Robert J. Hansen | OBSERVER Staff Writer Grant Union High School in North Sacramento is on lockdown after a student shot another student, according to the Sacramento Police Department. Shortly before 10 a.m., police said, officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation near Grant High. As they responded, additional calls were received that a student had been shot by another student on campus property. Officers arrived and located a juvenile male with at least one non-life-threatening gunshot wound. The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment. A juvenile male suspect was located and arrested in a joint effort between officers from the city and the Twin Rivers School District. “This was an isolated and targeted incident and there is no outstanding threat,” a police spokesperson told The OBSERVER. The school is currently on lockdown and will be released by the staff at grant union high school staff.
