The footage captures the 16-year-old wielding a firearm against the 13-year-old Jaryan Cox, derogatorily insulting him and threatening to harm him for allegedly flirting with his girlfriend. Cox's family is demanding stricter consequences for the teen, who was arrested on August 3 after the video gained attention. The initial charges, including misdemeanor simple assault, have incited outrage among community members who believe they are insufficient for such egregious behavior. Cox’s mother criticized the leniency, asserting that had the roles been reversed, her son would face harsher penalties.
