Micoud North experienced flooding, landslides, and soil erosion due to heavy rainfall in the past few days.
Parliamentary Representative Jeremiah Norbert disclosed that land slippage and excessive flooding mainly affected Escap, the Mon Repos Highway, and Praslin.
Norbert thanked the Ministry of Infrastructure for their swift response in clearing up the land slippage in what he described as ‘these major areas’ to ensure we return to a semblance of normalcy.
He also posted photos of areas before and after the Ministry clean-up.
“Friends, climate change is not just the increases in ferocious storms and hurricanes, but it is convectional rainfalls which cause damage in such a short space of time,” the MP wrote on Facebook.
“This is why we must continue to advance the case of SIDS in global arenas and also do what we can locally to mitigate and adapt to climate change,” Norbert stated.
