Here’s Why Trump Can Still Run for President After Hush-Money Conviction

(US MEDIA GROUP) – Donald Trump may have made history as the first U.S. president to be convicted of a crime, but that doesn’t mean he’s out of the 2024 presidential race.
Trump was found guilty on “34 felony counts of falsifying business documents” linked to hush-money paid to adult film actress Stormy Daniels. The former president will be sentenced on July 11, just four days before he is set to receive the Republican party’s nomination at the National Convention in Milwaukee.
Despite the conviction, Trump remains steadfast in his determination to hold onto the presidency. “The real verdict is going to be Nov. 5 by the people,” Trump stated in a released statement, claiming the trial was “rigged” and “disgraceful.”
But Trump’s conviction hasn’t deterred him from using the situation to his advantage, rallying his supporters to “fight for our country” and “fight for our Constitution.” In fact, the hush-money conviction may have actually boosted Trump’s campaign, as Article II, Section 1 of the Constitution outlines the only criteria for running for president: being a “natural born Citizen,” at least 35 years old, and living in the U.S. for 14 years.
