In 1996, a committed team of pediatric nurses in Pittsburgh, engaged in aiding children with cancer, identified a lack of programs designed for siblings coping with the death of loved ones. This realization inspired the creation of the Pittsburgh Center for Grieving Children, developed by local organizations and specialists.
