Kawempe North Member of Parliament, Hon. Muhammad Ssegirinya, has been instructed to vacate his office premises following a sharp increase in rent, which he and his team claim is politically motivated. According to Alex Luswa Luwemba, Hon. Ssegirinya’s personal assistant, the landlord issued the eviction notice on December 28, 2024, after raising the monthly rent from UGX 700,000 to UGX 2 million. The landlord cited increased property rates as the reason for the hike. However, Luswa alleges that the justification is baseless and part of a politically driven agenda to disrupt Ssegirinya’s work. “The landlord issued a notice toward the end of last year requesting that we vacate the premises by January 7, 2025, after raising the rent. He gave us no time to sort ourselves out,” Luswa explained. Hon.
