HOUSTON – The Buffalo Soldiers National Museum presents Juneteenth @160: U.S. Colored Troops’ Call to Freedom – Our Journey to Progress from June 19-21, celebrating Juneteenth's 160th anniversary and the profound legacy of the United States Colored Troops. This engaging event enriches attendees with art, history, and cultural experiences emphasizing resilience and the ongoing pursuit of Black liberation. “Juneteenth @160 pays homage to the generations of Black soldiers striving for true citizenship under the U.S. Constitution,” stated Desmond Bertrand-Pitts, CEO of BSNM. “We foster a learning, reflective space for community engagement.” The Colored Troops significantly impacted asserting rights for freedmen, comprising over 180,000 Black soldiers instrumental in the Civil War.
