The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum proudly inaugurated five exceptional individuals on Sunday. This year’s ceremony in Cooperstown, New York, celebrated the 2025 Hall of Fame class, featuring pitcher CC Sabathia, along with outfielders Ichiro Suzuki, Dick Allen, and Dave Parker. Additionally, reliever Billy Wagner earned his place in this distinguished group. This five-member induction class marks the largest since 2022, when seven were honored. With a 19-season MLB career spanning from 2001 to 2019, Sabathia is recognized as the third Black starting pitcher to enter the Hall of Fame, following legends Ferguson Jenkins and Bob Gibson. He concluded his career with an impressive record of 251-161 and 3,093 strikeouts, ranking third among left-handed pitchers. Beyond his on-field accomplishments, Sabathia advocates for increasing visibility for Black players, emphasizing mentorship programs aimed at fostering future generations of talent in baseball, ensuring that he is not the last Black pitcher enshrined in the Hall.
