Police Hold Florida Dad And Son At Gunpoint Over Wrong Bank Robbery Call

A Black man from Florida, Albert Jackson Jr., 49, was arrested in a county commission meeting last month while attempting to present video evidence of his unlawful detention at gunpoint in 2021. He was wrongfully accused of robbing a bank alongside his then-14-year-old son.During the meeting, Jackson was engaged in a minor dispute with Escambia County employee Kaycee Lagarde while he tried to insert a USB drive into a computer. Lagarde expressed discomfort, interpreting Jackson's action as aggressive. Despite asserting his right to present the video highlighting his son's traumatic experience, which involved being wrongfully handcuffed, Jackson faced opposition from Commissioner Mike Kohler, who admonished him.When asked for identification by a deputy afterward, Jackson questioned the legitimacy of the request, leading to his arrest on charges of battery. He suspects the intent behind his arrest was to prevent him from revealing the video's grave content. Now, Jackson intends to pursue justice through legal avenues featuring documented evidence he compiled over the years.
