Ex Trooper Who Assaulted Black Couple Alleges He Was Terminated For Being White

A white ex-Pennsylvania state trooper, Andrew Zaborowski, has filed a lawsuit claiming racial discrimination as the reason for his termination after an incident involving a Black couple during a traffic stop. He alleges that his firing is unjust, suggesting that Black officers have engaged in more severe misconduct without facing similar repercussions. Notably, Zaborowski's lawsuit lacks supporting examples of the referenced cases.Alongside him, another former trooper, Daryl Jay Elias, has lodged a separate suit asserting that Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives have resulted in discriminatory treatment against him. Elias's grievances include allegations that DEI practices contributed to failures in officer promotions and resource allocation during a significant event involving former President Trump.Both lawsuits cite violations of the 1964 Civil Rights Act and the Pennsylvania Human Rights Act, with claims that discriminatory promotion practices negatively impacted their careers. Despite the claims, data reveals systemic disparities in traffic stop searches impacting Black drivers significantly more than their white counterparts.
