A 32-year-old woman, en route to provide cleaning services, tragically lost her life after mistakenly arriving at the wrong address in Indiana. On November 5, Maria Florinda Rios Perez de Velasquez, accompanied by her husband, attempted to access a home in Whitestown, where they were scheduled to work. According to her brother Rudy Rios, as she began using a key, she was shot in the head by the homeowner, collapsing into her husband’s arms. Law enforcement indicated that the homeowner fired from within, hitting de Velasquez through the door. The family later learned that the intended cleaning job was located behind the incorrect residence. The Whitestown Metropolitan Police Department responded to a report of a possible home intrusion but confirmed that no illegal entry had occurred. An ongoing investigation will determine if Indiana's self-defense laws apply to the incident. Rios emphasized his sister's innocence, asserting she meant no harm and seeking justice.
