Comments from employees reportedly belittled the significance of the holiday. The sole Black customer present demanded her vehicle, expressing discontent with the remarks and garnering support online.Regrettably, no official apology was issued, and the shop retaliated on social media, further escalating the situation. Dougherty recognized a need for staff education on sensitive cultural topics, emphasizing that the offending employee did not grasp the holiday’s true historical importance.
