Hip Hop entrepreneur, actor, and producer Ice Cube is a highly accomplished figure, actively engaged in numerous endeavors. In addition to writing and directing films, the former N.W.A member is at the helm of the Big3 basketball league, which launched in 2017. This league features 12 teams comprising ex-NBA and international players.
Although facing profitability challenges since its start, Ice Cube and co-owner Jeff Kwatinetz have transitioned from a nomadic model to a more localized one, enhancing community interaction. They have also offered team ownership stakes, transforming the league into a $10 million enterprise. In a bid to attract attention and revenue for 2024, the “Today Was A Good Day” rapper reportedly proposed a $5 million deal to Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark to join his league over the WNBA.
Cube explained to TMZ Sports that sponsorship backing for Clark's inclusion offered financially greater opportunities than for Chicago Sky's Angel Reese, indicating a strategic approach in player acquisition.
