Online influencer Jonathan Moss, known for his humor, shifted gears to address rental discrimination in Scottsdale, Arizona, via his social media channels. While it is illegal, one unnamed landlord allegedly rejected Moss's rental application due to his race. In a widely shared TikTok video, the comedian, who is known as “johnmosslol,” explained that he submitted his application through both email and postal mail to ensure thoroughness, even including a photo of himself. Moss then spent three frustrating months without any feedback and, suspecting an ulterior motive for the silence, devised an "experiment."He presented viewers with a photo of a white man named Brian Davies, stating, “Brian is going to be used for this experiment.” After sending an inquiry from Brian, he received an immediate response, whereas Moss had waited months.The stark contrast showcased a troubling reality many face: institutional racism in housing.
