Jamaican-American Mayor of Miramar Wayne Messam has been appointed as the 2nd Vice President of the African American Mayors Association (AAMA), a professional organization that represents and supports African American mayors across the United States. In addition to this prestigious appointment, Mayor Messam and Miramar’s Economic Development & Housing Department have been awarded the AAMA’s Maynard Jackson Award for Economic Development Initiative, recognizing the impactful KOFE Financial Literacy Series, that was presented by Mayo Messam. The KOFE (Knowledge of Financial Education) program, developed in collaboration with Consolidated Credit in 2015, has been instrumental in boosting financial literacy among Miramar residents and city employees. The initiative offers a wide range of resources including interactive courses, budgeting tools, workshops, and personalized financial coaching.
