Chicago and actor Jussie Smollett have come to a settlement six years after he purportedly staged a fabricated hate crime against himself, according to NBC News. In April 2019, city officials filed a lawsuit against Smollett for submitting a false police report regarding an attack he claimed occurred on January 29. The suit sought reimbursement of $130,000 for police investigation costs tied to his allegations of a racist and homophobic assault, which police concluded he orchestrated. On April 28, both parties informed the court about the settlement, although specifics are still pending.
