Kamau Siwatu to Lead the Texas Tech University College of Education

Kamau Siwatu has been selected to serve as interim dean of the College of Education at Texas Tech University. He will assume his responsibilities on June 1. Dr. Siwatu joined the Texas Tech University faculty in 2005 as an assistant professor of educational psychology, eventually earning the rank of full professor in 2016. He previously served the university as chair of the educational psychology, leadership, and counseling department until his appointment as interim associate dean for academic affairs in January 2024. As an academic, Dr. Siwatu’s teaching and research endeavors have centered around culturally responsive teaching self-efficacy. Dr. Siwatu holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from California State University, Dominguez Hills, a master’s degree in educational psychology from Florida State University, and a Ph.D. in educational psychology from the University of Nebraska.
