Sutter Health Park stages the highly anticipated 15th annual JUGLIFE celebrity softball game Saturday, June 15, hosted by three-time NBA champion JaVale McGee. Fans and supporters can look forward to an action-packed day filled with thrilling competitions, celebrity appearances, and the opportunity to witness an exciting sporting event for a great cause.
In an exclusive interview with The OBSERVER, McGee talked about the event and how it all started.
“I’m from Flint, Michigan,” McGee said. “And we all know how tragic the water crisis is there.” McGee was referring to the 2014 cost-cutting decision by Flint officials to use the Flint River as a water resource causing lead to leach from aging pipes into the water supply. The city’s predominately Black residents complained about the discolored, smelly water, but their concerns were initially dismissed by officials.
