The KOOL Club, a nonprofit social organization composed of alumni from Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU), successfully generated scholarship funds through its inaugural Kenneth L. Toney Golf Tournament. This event took place at the Ted Rhodes Golf Course on June 23, 2025, in Nashville, TN. The second-place winners proudly displayed their trophies, including William Belliford, Joe Patrick, Paul Canady, and Al Westbrook, all contributing to the KOOL Club Scholarship Fund at MTSU in Murfreesboro, TN. Established on April 18, 1974, the KOOL Club emphasizes Knowledge, Opportunity, Optimism, and Leadership, adopting the motto, “Being Yourself is Being Kool.” The tournament also honored Kenneth L. Toney, a beloved member who sustained injuries while serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. Notably, Reginald Edwards proposed a scholarship fund in 1981 to feature high school competitions. Today, this initiative allows the KOOL Club to award scholarships annually to deserving minority students, alongside honorary memberships.
