‘Let Us Continue To Be Each Other’s Keepers’

Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre has underscored the benefit of cooperation among Caribbean Community (CARICOM) member states.
“Our work and cooperation as member states is imperative for the protection of the lives and livelihoods of our people,” Pierre asserted.
The Saint Lucia Prime Minister attended the 47th Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of CARICOM from July 28 to 30 in Grenada.
Grenada was among several Caribbean countries which experienced the fury of Hurricane Beryl.
Beryl set a record as the first-ever Category 4 storm in June in the Atlantic, making landfall on July 1 on Carriacou, in Grenada, and wrecking nearby islands.
Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Jamaica, Barbados, and Saint Lucia were among the countries also affected.
“The last few weeks have shown us that as a Caribbean Community, we remain our first source of relief in times of disasters. Let us continue to be each other’s keepers,” Prime Minister Pierre stated.
Earlier this month, Pierre had observed that Hurricane Beryl’s devastation in the Caribbean had amplified the need for climate justice.
