LUCELEC Responds To Marchand Electrical Incident

A member of the general public is recovering under medical supervision following an incident that occurred on Friday, January 26, 2024 in the Marchand community. The St. Lucia Electricity Services Limited (LUCELEC) received a call at approximately 7:23 a.m. indicating that an individual appears to have sustained an electric shock near a utility pole. A section of the electricity system was isolated at 8.48 a.m. in order to allow LUCELEC’s technical personnel to investigate the incident. This resulted in a service interruption to customers in Bagatelle, Bishops Gap, Arundel Hill and Marchand. Service was subsequently restored to all areas at 11:02 a.m. LUCELEC would like to recognize the quick action of the members of the community on site and thanks the Saint Lucia Fire Service for its quick response in attending to the injured individual. LUCELEC apologises to its customers for the inconvenience caused by the service interruption. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
