MC Lyte To Drop New Album This Summer After Nearly 10 Years

MC Lyte is poised to make 2024 the year she re-emerges in the music industry.
During a recent appearance on the Rock the Bells radio show That’s The Joint with hip-hop pioneers MC Sha Rock and Grandmaster Caz, MC Lyte disclosed plans for her 9th studio album. This will be her first individual album since the 2015 release of Legend. Though the title is not yet revealed, Lyte confirmed a summer release date.
“We’ll have another single coming in June for Black Music Month which is going to be spectacular and of course, I got some winning folks on this album,” said MC Lyte. In response, MC Sha Rock eagerly interjected, “Wait a minute, hold on. You said album. You’re doing an album?” Lyte confirmed with an enthusiastic yes. The “Paper Thin” rapper confirmed that the album is slated for an August 9 release, with the next single dropping on June 9.
In March, MC Lyte released “Woman,” the first single from her upcoming album, featuring hip-hop icons Salt (of Salt ‘N Pepa), Big Daddy Kane, and R&B singer Raheem DeVaughn. The song, an ode to women globally, was released in conjunction with Women’s History Month. The collaboration evokes a...
