Michael Strahan’s 19-year-old daughter, Isabella, has been diagnosed with medulloblastoma, a malignant brain tumor.
The father-daughter duo revealed the diagnosis in an interview with GMA’s Robin Roberts on Thursday (January 11).
“I literally think that in a lot of ways, I’m the luckiest man in the world because I’ve got an amazing daughter,” Strahan said. “I know she’s going through it, but I know that we’re never given more than we can handle and that she is going to crush this. I don’t know what I would do without her.”
Isabella, a first-year student at the University of Southern California, said she was diagnosed in October with medulloblastoma after experiencing headaches and nausea.
“That’s when I definitely noticed headaches, nausea, couldn’t walk straight,” she said.
Isabella said she thought she had vertigo until her symptoms worsened.
“I dreaded waking up, but I was throwing up blood,” Isabella recalled. “I was like, ‘Hmm, this probably isn’t good.’”
The college student was encouraged to see a doctor.
“Thank goodness for the doctor. I feel like this doctor saved her life,” Strahan said.
