By BigEyeUg Team The Ugandan government has disbursed the initial portion of Ugx. 5 billion from the Ugx. 13 billion stimulus package to the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF), led by popular singer Eddy Kenzo, a development confirmed by reliable sources. This move, however, has stirred division within the music community, particularly among musicians aligned with different industry bodies, namely the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) and the Uganda Musicians Associations (UMA). Hon. Haruna Kyeyune Kasolo, the Minister of State for Finance, Planning, and Economic Development (Microfinance) of the Government of Uganda, disclosed that the UNMF has been allocated Ugx. 5 billion from the stimulus package. This allocation aims to bolster the welfare and development of artists across the country. “We have initiated a plan to invest in our musicians, collaborating closely with representatives such as Eddy Kenzo and Ragga Dee to uplift the livelihoods of other artists,” stated Minister Haruna Kasolo. The Minister further elaborated that the funds are slated for disbursement to UNMF within the current or subsequent week. UNMF’s proposal, which includes plans to establish music studios nationwide and communal gathering spaces for musicians, has been given due consideration.
