California Hospital Accused of Hiding the Death of Black Woman Tonya Walker and Illegally Harvesting Her Organs

Tonya Walker's family last communicated with her in October 2023. A mother of four who had experienced homelessness, Tonya had never previously disappeared. As Thanksgiving approached and she remained unaccounted for, her family initiated an extensive search across Sacramento, California, her home. Unfortunately, the events that unfolded were utterly shocking, involving Dignity Health, a prominent U.S. healthcare provider.The investigation commenced on November 10 when her family reported her missing. Sisters Dalee Marez and Kalia Zachary swiftly mobilized, distributing flyers and searching various locations while offering a $3,500 reward, which led to numerous false leads. The police, suspecting possible homicide, utilized a cadaver dog and sought assistance from the Justice Department to include Walker on the national missing persons list.In a devastating turn of events, the Department of Justice reported that she had been marked “deceased” by the DMV over seven months later, revealing her body had been found in a morgue without her family's knowledge.
