Monument Health offering free screenings at Black Hills Stock Show and Rodeo

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Monument Health is offering free screenings at their Community Health Summit during the Black Hills Stock Show. People attending the stock show at the Monument can stop by their booth – located in the ice arena – and get free preventative screenings – including blood pressure checks, prediabetes assessments and mental health assessments. Anna Whetham, community relations for Monument Health talked about the screenings, saying, “This is our – sort of – first step in trying to engage with our community. For some people it’s just, ‘Hey let’s start thinking about this process. Where are you at with things?’ But also for us – we want to build trust with our communities too. So being able to come down –  interact, sit and have a conversation – really goes a long way.” Whetham added the screenings are not a diagnosis but an important first step and she encourages people to follow up with their healthcare providers. A variety of healthcare specialists will also be available to provide educational information on everything from nutrition to robot assisted surgery.
