Nashville, Tenn. (TN Tribune)-Now that the Transportation Improvement Plan has passed, WeGo needs to hire bus operators and mechanics to expand its service.  Applicants do not need to have any transit experience and WeGo will provide all the training for applicants to learn a new trade. There are two programs WeGo offers: WeGo Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) training program. Accepted applicants train to earn their CDL, and then complete WeGo training. 11-week paid CDL training process 8-week WeGo training process for those who already have a CDL All new WeGo Operators will receive at least 80 hours and on average 100 hours of driving time with an instructor. WeGo Mechanic Apprenticeship Program Combines training with a full-time salary and benefits. Hands-on program taught in the WeGo maintenance facilities. Participants work on active fleet buses. Graduates will attain skills as heavy-duty mechanics with expertise in bus mechanical systems. The goal of the apprentice program is to advance people into a starting mechanics position at WeGo, offering better pay and room for further advancement.
