Harlem Welcomes The National Urban League’s New Office Opening

On Wednesday, November 12, leaders nationwide will converge in Harlem for the ceremonial inauguration and dedication of the Urban League Empowerment Center. This ambitious project, encompassing 414,000 square feet and costing $242 million, serves as a blueprint for fair development and community autonomy.Initiated by National Urban League President and CEO Marc H. Morial, the Empowerment Center transcends mere architecture; it symbolizes resilience and cultural preservation amid ongoing economic marginalization. It showcases the potential of communities investing in their own futures, supported by steadfast allies and rooted in legacy.The Center revitalizes Harlem’s historic nucleus for its original inhabitants, housing the National Urban League headquarters, the Urban Civil Rights Museum, and 171 affordable residences, alongside a conference venue and space for mission-driven nonprofits and retail.
