Rising Saint Lucian basketball star Megan Nestor continues to dominate for the Wayland Baptist University (WBU) women’s basketball team. This week, fresh off being named Student-Athlete of the Week by the National Christian College Athletic Association, she enjoyed another big outing at Hutcherson Center.
Nestor, a 6-4 forward from Canaries, tallied 24 points and 13 rebounds against the University of North Texas at Dallas Trailblazers, as the 13th-ranked Flying Queens won 94-66 on Thursday to improve their record on the season to 6-0.
The 2023-2024 NAIA All-American recorded her fifth double-double of the season – 24 points, 9-14 shooting from the floor, 13 rebounds, three steals, and two blocks.
Despite leading the team in rebounding again, and upping her scoring significantly, WBU head coach Jason Cooper thinks his Caribbean Queen is just scratching the surface of her potential. “Meg was tremendous again with another double-double. She had 24 and 13 and we think she’s just playing average basketball,” mused Cooper. “That’s something we’re taking for granted a little bit.”
