KC Podcast Touches On A White Supremacist Serial Killer Who Preyed On Black Women

In the fall of 2022, The Kansas City Defender unveiled a compelling video, highlighting a serial predator who was preying on Black women in the Prospect Avenue Corridor. Following weeks of discussions with local leaders and community members concerning the missing, it became clear that a significant crisis was developing, largely overlooked by those in power. The footage swiftly captured widespread attention, amassing millions of views and attracting national scrutiny. Despite this, mainstream media and the Kansas City Police Department relegated the serious allegations to being "entirely unfounded." Shortly thereafter, TJ, a 22-year-old survivor, managed to flee from Timothy Haslett Jr., who had held her captive and confessed to unspeakable acts. Our ongoing inquiry exposes persistent shortcomings within law enforcement, the media, and society regarding the issue of missing Black women. With the initiation of the Fountain City Files: Vanishing Point project, we strive to honor survivors, illuminate systemic negligence, and advocate for justice, fostering community safety and awareness about this pressing crisis.
