College And Education Updates: Six Black Administrators Take on New Roles in Higher Education

Divon Pender has been appointed as the coordinator of student-athlete development at Kean University, located in Union, New Jersey. Previously, he contributed as a graduate assistant focusing on admissions and diversity initiatives at the University of Maryland. His valuable experience within higher education encompasses roles with the New Jersey Office of the Secretary of Higher Education, GOMO Educational Services, and Rutgers University. Pender holds a bachelor’s degree in human resource management from Rutgers and a master’s degree in higher education, student affairs, and international education policy from the University of Maryland. Pamela Hopson has taken on the role of executive director of campus and community strategy at the University of Southern Indiana. An employee of the university since 1979, she was serving as interim vice president for student affairs since July 2024, following her tenure as executive director of the Multicultural Center. Dr. Hopson earned her bachelor’s in public administration from Indiana University, a master’s in public administration from Indiana State University, and a doctorate in educational leadership from the University of Southern Indiana.
