WASHINGTON, D.C. – “The Black Press of America must once again speak truth to power,” said NNPA Chairman Emeritus Danny Bakewell Sr., underscoring the urgency of renewed advocacy. In response to growing concerns over corporate America’s withdrawal from diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts, the National Newspaper Publishers Association (NNPA) has announced a powerful nationwide initiative. This dual campaign will focus on public education and targeted consumer purchasing designed to hold corporations accountable and empower Black communities economically. The NNPA aims to spotlight companies retreating from DEI commitments while encouraging Black consumers to support businesses that align with equity and justice. By combining education with economic strategy, the initiative calls on the Black Press and its readers to influence change through informed decision-making. As the media voice of Black America, the NNPA is mobilizing its resources to drive awareness, foster accountability, and strengthen economic solidarity through informed and intentional action.
