Obama applauds Harris plan to give Black businesses 1 million forgivable loans

WASHINGTON (TNND) — Former President Barack Obama on Monday applauded Vice President Kamala Harris’s plan to offer 1 million forgivable loans to Black entrepreneurs, claiming the move will help these individuals “build wealth.”
The Harris campaign announced the plan via its website Monday, explaining the loans could reach as high as $20,000 in value. The release also included a “National Health Equity Initiative” specifically targeting Black men and touted the Harris campaign’s support of legalizing marijuana and lowering rent prices.
The campaign added that while “Donald Trump is a serious threat to the lives of Black men,” Harris is “addressing the issues that Black men across the country have told her are their top concerns.”
Obama expressed support for the vice president’s efforts via X.
“@KamalaHarris has a plan that will lift up Black men and their families,” Obama wrote in a post. “She’s laid out some ways to give Black men the tools to build wealth, achieve financial freedom, and lower costs.”
Reacting to the post was country singer John Rich, who suggested the Harris campaign is experiencing floundering favorability with Black voters.
