Organizers say they’re rallying in honor of Casey Goodson Jr. and pushing prosecutors to refile the case. The event began at Thompson Park, where leaders reflected on the outcome of the case. After two weeks of testimony and hours of jury deliberation, Meade’s murder trial ended in a mistrial. Meade faced charges after shooting and killing 23-year-old Casey Goodson Jr. in 2020. Ramon Obey says they want prosecutors to refile the case so that the Goodson family can have some kind of justice. Obey is the executive director of an activist organization called Justice, Unity, and Social Transformation (J.U.S.T.). He says the Goodson family still deserves justice. Sunday, Obey says nearly 20 different organizations have signed a letter in support of a new trial. “We’re here; we see the injustices that happened in our court system,” Obey said. “It’s been four long years. This is a murder that took place Dec. 4, 2020.” READ MORE The post Ohio: Columbus Community Protests Mistrial Outcome Freeing Killer-Cop Jason Meade appeared first on Black Star News.
