Al Sharpton. Attendees arrived by bus, car, and public transit, with many from the Newark chapter of NAN.Starting at the African Burial Ground on Broadway and concluding with a rally at Wall Street, POP participants raised banners advocating for the end of the Trump administration, economic equity, and support for diversity initiatives. POP Chairman Lawrence Hamm expressed the organization’s resolute stance, emphasizing Wall Street as the heart of American capitalism marked by systemic oppression of the working class.Hamm highlighted Wall Street’s historical connection to African Americans, recalling its role in the slave trade. Additionally, two events in Washington, D.C. involved POP members, including the “Day of Prayer” at Metropolitan AME Church, a key site in African American history. Ending with the “Solidarity Season” rally, the event drew thousands, resulting in vibrant chants and calls for D.C. statehood. For inquiries, contact POP at (973)801-0001.
